    Personality
Kagome is brave, daring and slightly tempestuous. She can be argumentative and contradictory, especially in the presence of other people are likewise argumentative. Despite her short temper and tendency to get irritated with certain people, Kagome is genuinely kind-hearted and has an intense desire to help other people. She cares deeply for her friends and will stick by them through thick and thin. She is also optimistic and hopeful, and no matter how bad things get, will keep striving to do whatever she can to improve the situation. Kagome can be whiny at times, but more often than not, isn't content to simply be a damsel in distress -- she wants to be in thick of the action.

    History
As a little girl, Kagome's life was practically ideal. She lived happily with her mother, her father and her younger brother, Sota. When Kagome was nine, however, her father was murdered on his way home to work -- and his killer never found. Devastated by the loss as well as doubting her ability to raise two children on her own, Kagome's mother moved the family in with her father -- and old man who lived out in the country near a shrine and old well. Kagome loved the old well as a child, often pretending it was a portal that allowed her to travel to her other times and worlds and that 'invisible friends' sometimes came through the well to visit her. (Her favorite 'invisible friend' was a magical dog-man named Mr. Tweaky Ears.) As Kagome got older, though, her mother began to worry about her, wanting only the best for her children but not having enough money to buy Kagome's way into exceptional private schools. Kagome could sense that her mother wanted what was best for her and remembered that her father had wanted the best for his children as well, and set out to make their dreams a reality. In middle school, Kagome discovered an aptitude for physical abilities, especially archery, though she excelled at other sports including softball and track and field as well, and did everything she could to hone it, hoping that her outstanding ability in sports and excellent behavior would qualify her for an athletic scholarship to an elite school or, failing that, at least, in combination with her good grades in her language classes and history, would compensate for the fact that her grades in mathematics were mediocre at best. Nobody was more surprised than Kagome herself when she managed to get a scholarship to Woodgrove, but she's determined to take advantage of it.
